The collaborative tour spreads message of health, wealth, and financial freedom at locations in Rapid City

Rapid City, SD., June 7, 2023—Sentinel Federal Credit Union (Sentinel FCU), a local credit union serving nearly 9,000 members and businesses throughout the Black Hills, is partnering with “Happy Money Happy Life” author Jason Vitug to host a city-wide book tour, spreading the message of health, wealth and financial wellbeing. The book tour will make several stops between June 13 through June 15.

“As an organization with members across Western South Dakota as well as nationwide, we are thrilled to partner with Jason on his journey of spreading joy and happiness in South Dakota and nationwide. Like Sentinel FCU, Jason is deeply committed to helping others achieve financial wellbeing,” said Sentinel FCU President and CEO Keith Robbennolt. “A person’s financial wellbeing can greatly impact their mental and emotional health, and Jason’s book ‘Happy Money Happy Life’ does an incredible job of communicating that message. We look forward to connecting Jason with the local community to learn and celebrate these ideas together bringing us all one step closer to financial wellbeing.”

During the tour, Vitug will visit multiple Rapid City locations—reading excerpts from his book and signing copies for attendees. Free and open to the public, community members interested in attending are encouraged to reserve a spot at the links below. Tour dates and locations include:

Sentinel FCU has supported business owners in these communities by purchasing copies of Vitug’s book from independent and locally owned bookstore, Mitzi’s Books.

“As a former corporate climber turned author and wellness entrepreneur, it was crucial to involve local financial resources such as Sentinel FCU in this dialogue to turn local money discussions into a national conversation on financial wellbeing,” said Vitug. “I look forward to connecting with the people of Rapid City and learning from them and sharing their stories nationwide.”

Vitug’s visit to South Dakota is part of the “I want to CU Happy Tour” to visit all 50 states in one year to discuss money, wellness, and happiness.

Released earlier this year, “Happy Money Happy Life” breaks down Vitug’s multidimensional approach to financial independence. Throughout the novel, he emphasizes how eight dimensions of wellness—mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, social, occupational, environmental, and financial—can transform a person’s relationship with money for a happier, healthier life.

“I have been using Sentinel for almost 30 years, and my family has been just as long! I purposely make the extra drive to the Radar Hill Branch with Nate working there! Not only has he always been on the ball of my personal account, but my business account! He has resolved issues with other banks in a timely manner when he didn’t have to! Every time I go on he always has a smiling face and is easy to work with.”

“We have several credit unions that got lost in the mix during a move–our bad. However, out of all of those credit unions, SFCU went OUT OF THEIR WAY to ensure we knew our account was dormant and helped us through the process of getting the account back on track. They also refunded every fee taken for dormant status. After losing more money than I’d like to admit from other institutions, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the customer service of Sentinel FCU.”

“If you’re in the Rapid City area and you’re looking to drop the elbow off the top rope, Macho Man style, then look to Sentinel Federal Credit Union! Their customer service is off the hook and when you call you never get a robot or an automated answering machine! I don’t think I’ll trust another big bank with my money for as long as I live! By the way, I don’t even live in South Dakota!”

“Been a loyal member for years! Keep your account positive and make your payments. If life happens keep them updated, as they have ways of working with you. I am glad they are a part of my financial family.”
