Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school, or is a business or other legal entity in Pennington, Lawrence, Meade, Custer, Lyman, Todd, Tripp, Gregory and Mellette counties in South Dakota can join us.

Once you join us, you become a member of Sentinel Federal Credit Union. You can remain a member for life, even if you change jobs, relocate or retire. Plus, after you become a member, your immediate family members are automatically eligible to join.

It’s easy to get started. All you need to do is open a Regular Savings account and keep just $5 in your account. That’s it. That $5 is not a fee. It’s your share of ownership in your Credit Union. That’s right. You are an owner of your financial institution.

Membership means you get higher rates on your savings, lower rates on your loans and the personalized service that you deserve.

A sentinel is a guard or a soldier that keeps watch. That’s where we get our name. We have been the financial guardian angel for our members since 1955.

We got our start as Ellsworth Air Force Base Federal Credit Union. At that time, we served the U.S. Air Force military personnel on Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota.

In 1994, we chose our new name – Sentinel Federal Credit Union. With our deep roots, we continued to grow to serve nine counties in South Dakota.

In 2015, Rapid City Telco Federal Credit Union joined us. This merger increased our branches to seven convenient locations. This merger with Rapid City Telco Federal Credit Union increased our branches to seven convenient locations.

Over the years, our mission has remained the same; to protect the financial future of our members. Just like a sentinel.
