Share:

Hi, I’m Dorothy Voorhees, Interim CEO of Sentinel Federal Credit Union. I am excited to share with you the latest developments at Sentinel FCU as we embark on an exciting new chapter. Our journey began on Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1955, and next year, we’ll proudly celebrate 70 years of dedicated service to our members.

A Testament to Our Commitment

We’ve recently broken ground on our new branch in Box Elder, a clear testament to our unwavering commitment to serving those who serve our country and their families. This new branch signifies our dedication to supporting the growing communities at Ellsworth and in Box Elder, ensuring we meet your financial needs every step of the way.

Significance of the Location

The location of our new branch is particularly meaningful. Situated right next to the main gate of Ellsworth Air Force Base and adjacent to the Air and Space Museum, this site represents our deep connection to the military community and the broader Box Elder community. The strategic placement will make it more convenient for our members to access our services and support. Please note, our Radar Hill Road location will close once this new branch opens, but our branch on Base will remain operational to continue providing quick access to financial services for airmen and women on duty.

Design Reflecting Our Roots

The design of our new branch is inspired by an airplane hangar, a tribute to our beginnings at Ellsworth Air Force Base. This architectural choice reflects our respect for the military community and symbolizes the strength and stability we aim to provide to all our members. More than just a building, this new branch will be a symbol of our growth and our unwavering commitment to our members.

Community Commitment

Sentinel Federal Credit Union has always been deeply committed to the communities we serve. By establishing this new branch, we aim to contribute to the economic growth and well-being of the Box Elder area. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we embody the credit union mantra of “people helping people,” striving to build stronger communities.

Looking Ahead

As our community grows, so do we, to better serve your needs. We look forward to the future with great optimism and remain steadfast in our role as your financial guardian, ensuring financial wellness for all our members.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Stay tuned for more updates as we build this new chapter together. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new branch and continue serving you for many years to come.

What Our Members Say About Us

“I have been using Sentinel for almost 30 years, and my family has been just as long! I purposely make the extra drive to the Radar Hill Branch with Nate working there! Not only has he always been on the ball of my personal account, but my business account! He has resolved issues with other banks in a timely manner when he didn’t have to! Every time I go on he always has a smiling face and is easy to work with.”

“Been a loyal member for years! Keep your account positive and make your payments. If life happens keep them updated, as they have ways of working with you. I am glad they are a part of my financial family.”

“We have several credit unions that got lost in the mix during a move–our bad. However, out of all of those credit unions, SFCU went OUT OF THEIR WAY to ensure we knew our account was dormant and helped us through the process of getting the account back on track. They also refunded every fee taken for dormant status. After losing more money than I’d like to admit from other institutions, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the customer service of Sentinel FCU.”

“If you’re in the Rapid City area and you’re looking to drop the elbow off the top rope, Macho Man style, then look to Sentinel Federal Credit Union! Their customer service is off the hook and when you call you never get a robot or an automated answering machine! I don’t think I’ll trust another big bank with my money for as long as I live! By the way, I don’t even live in South Dakota!”
